// Sectors and ports

Where we work

Panama brings together Canal traffic, ports on both oceans and ship repair yards. Beiton Marine works on board and ashore with the same technical team.

01

Ships at anchor or at berth

On-board troubleshooting and repair, before or after the Canal transit, with the vessel at anchor or at berth. Access is coordinated through your shipping agent.

02

STS and RTG cranes

In Balboa, Cristóbal and Manzanillo: air-cooled VACON® NXP, from 1.5 to 2000 kW depending on voltage, for quay and yard crane motions.

03

Shore power (cold ironing)

The ship shuts down its generators and draws power from the port. The converter matches voltage and frequency (50↔60 Hz): VACON® NXP Grid Converter or iC7-Hybrid.

04

Energy storage

Connecting battery banks to the port or ship grid with VACON® NXP Grid Converter, DC/DC Converter or iC7-Hybrid.

05

Shipyards and dredgers

Repairs, conversions and newbuilds: low- and medium-voltage drives, control panels and control system integration.

06

Offshore

Support vessels and offshore units: propulsion, thrusters, winches and the on-board power grid.

// Service

DrivePro and 24/7 emergencies

Beiton is the only Danfoss DrivePro partner in Panama. Service goes wherever the ship is: on board, at anchor or at berth.

01

24/7 emergencies over WhatsApp

DrivePro Exchange

A new unit within 24–48 h for current Danfoss drives, subject to availability.

03

Retrofit of other brands

Replacement of other brands' drives with their Danfoss equivalent, with the parameter set replicated.

04

Maintenance and spare parts

// Process

How we work

Every step hands something concrete to the next one. No "internal phases" without an output.

01

Message us on WhatsApp, 24/7

Vessel name, flag or class, ETA or position, and the drive model and fault code. A photo of the nameplate and the display lets us start the diagnosis early.

02

Unit, spare part and certificate

We confirm whether the job needs a repair, a spare part, an Exchange or a Retrofit, and which class approval applies to the unit.

03

Access on board

We coordinate boarding with your shipping agent, with the vessel at anchor or at berth, on the Pacific or the Atlantic side.

04

Service and report

Repair, replacement or commissioning, tests with the equipment running, and a technical report for the crew, the owner and, if needed, the classification society.

// Frequently asked questions

What we get asked most

Quick answers to the questions technical teams in Panama ask us most often.

Q01 Is the equipment approved by my ship's classification society?
Danfoss states type approvals from nine classification societies: DNV, ABS, BV, KR, CCS, RINA, LR, RMRS and ClassNK. Which approval each unit carries depends on the product, version and application, so before we propose a unit we confirm the certificate that applies to that unit and to your project, and we hand it over with the proposal.
Q02 My ship is at anchor or at berth in Balboa or Cristóbal: can you attend it, and how fast?
Yes, we work on board or in port; access is coordinated through your shipping agent. Message us on WhatsApp at +507 6379 3478, 24 hours a day, with the vessel name, flag or class, ETA and the drive model. Response time depends on where the ship is, on-board access and spare part availability; we confirm it as soon as we have those details.
Q03 Can I replace another brand's drive without losing class?
With DrivePro Retrofit we replace other brands' drives with their Danfoss equivalent, with the parameter set replicated. To keep class, the new unit must be approved by your ship's society, and the change usually needs that society's acceptance: we confirm the applicable certificate and hand over the technical documentation for the process.
Q04 How is the 50 vs 60 Hz difference handled in shore power?
With a frequency converter between the port grid and the ship, such as iC7-Hybrid or VACON® NXP Grid Converter. Panama runs at 60 Hz, and a ship with a 50 Hz grid needs that conversion to take power from shore. Danfoss has applied it to shore power for cruise ships in Nordic ports with 16 to 32 MVA iC7-Hybrid systems (multi-module system). Each project is sized for the ship's load and the port grid.
Q05 Do you have spare parts and Exchange in Panama?
Yes. We carry genuine Danfoss spare parts and the DrivePro Exchange service, which replaces a current Danfoss drive with a new unit within 24 to 48 hours, subject to availability. For obsolete or other-brand drives we plan a Retrofit. To check whether a unit is available, send us the model and part number on WhatsApp.
Q06 Do you attend ships on the Pacific and the Atlantic side?
Yes. We work in the ports and anchorages on both sides of the Canal —Balboa on the Pacific; Cristóbal and Manzanillo on the Atlantic— and in ship repair yards. Access on board is coordinated through your shipping agent, with the vessel at anchor or at berth: we do not board during the Canal transit.
Q07 The drive on board is obsolete: what are the options?
If it is a current Danfoss drive, DrivePro Exchange replaces it with a new unit. If it is obsolete or from another brand, we plan a Retrofit with a current unit —iC7-Marine, VACON® NXP or VLT®, depending on the application—, with the parameter set replicated and the documentation for the classification society. It is best done during a planned stop or in a shipyard.

Tell us about your ship

Send us the vessel name, flag or class, ETA and the affected equipment. With that we confirm the unit, the certificate and how to get on board.
